DEMAND IMMEDIATE AND TOTAL WITHDRAWAL OF HIKE IN PETROL PRICE!
MAKE ALL INDIA BANDH ON MAY 31,2012 A BIG SUCCESS!
The Central Committee strongly denouces the hike in petrol price and demands its immediate
and total withdrawal.
The hike inflicted a crude and unbearable heavy blow on our people. It varies from Rs.7.85
(kolkata) to Rs 8.36 (hyderabad0 per litre. The Democles sword was hanging over the people's
heads for the last six months. But the Government chose to strike now. It resorted to all untenable
pleas like rise in the international prices and rupee depreciation to justify its move. The real
problem is, the Indian rulers are failing to build a self reliant and national oil industry based on
the country's abundant oil resources and technical expertise. Succumbing to the pressures and
arm twisting by the us, they are giving up cheap and dependable oil supplies from friendly
countries like Iran. They linked the prices of oil, including the domestic production with the price
of international market. Heavy doses of taxes imposed by the central and state governments
make oil still cos-tier and burdensome. Almost all the auto MNCs opened their production units
in India as a consequence promoting personal transport at the expence of public transport systems
and thus continuously raising the oil import bill and dependence on oil imports.
Our people are already crushed by the unprecedented rise in prices of all essential commodities,
costs of transport, medicines etc. The present rise in petrol price will push them up further
and the people would be pushed to the wall.
The Indian Government reportedly contemplating moves to raise the price of diesel, cooking
gas and kerosene. It is building up the psychological environment to cut whatever the minimum
subsidies and services available for the people in the name of austerity and further open up our
economy for the imperialists in the name of overcoming the economic crisis. It is going all out in
its attacks on the lives of our people.
The CC, CPI(ML) calls upon the workers, peasants, students, youth, employees, women, dalits
and other oppressed people to rise their united voice against the hike in petro price and demand
its immediate and total withdrawal. We call upon them to make the All India Bandh on 31st May
2012 called upon and participated by various parties and organisations a big success.Let the
people get prepared for an organised protest movement to force the government to totally withdraw
its anti-people moves and to extend and strengthen public transport systems.
